can’t wait to see which classic horror film he remakes for millennials next!!
Yeah absolute peak reagen-era tits and gore innit. Speaking of, I’ve added a couple of video nasties to my cinema paradiso i’ve never seen. Last house, spit on your grave, etc. Don’t really expect to enjoy them much but feel like I need to fill a couple of gaps. Any others I should see?
Cannibal Holocaust, Ms. 45, any missing Argento films you haven’t seen yet (not nasties but just from same time period)
Also wouldn’t say I enjoyed them as such (would be a weird reaction), but they definitely had some things to say and were effective and pretty powerful at parts. Depends on how much you can get from an-eye-for-an-eye as a philosophy for dealing with the extreme violence they portray, but it can work.
yeah enjoy is the wrong word, rate them i guess. wouldn’t say i enjoy texas chainsaw massacre but its a brilliant film innit. one of the very few genuinely horrible and upsetting films i’ve seen.
the scenes of animal cruelty in Cannibal Holocaust are too much, but I remember quite liking Cannibal Ferox
@ericVI is Happy Birthday To Me on there? Would also go for Driller Killer and Maniac
Yikes. Real?
Yeah
Grim. Might give it a miss
funny that Jason became the character from Friday the 13th considering the original
but yeah it’s shit in general as well, think the twist is the only notable thing about it tbqhf
oh also I watched Nightmare on Elm Street - thoguht it had some things going for it and could have been genuinely good but was marred by some 80s chintz (some of the score for eg) and the fact that Freddy is quite irritiating
yeah it’s really grim
It’s a shame because at the heart of it is an interesting idea (probably one of the first found footage films) and I believe it was so well done that the actors had to appear in an official capacity to prove it wasn’t a real snuff film
I think there are versions which omit the animal cruelty so if that can be found it’s worth tracking down
It just went up on Prime this week (dunno which version but I plan to give it a watch at some point when I feel like it won’t ruin my day/evening)
That Last Christmas film is going to be used for a gazillion memes and then everyone will forget about its existence forever
After doing Martyrs the other day I’m not sure I can take anything approaching that bleak/awful for a while
To be clear I thought the film was a disgusting piece of shit
I love the score, one of the best things about it!
I’d have thought on Prime it was the edited version but who knows!
Martyrs is absolute shite
Ah f that, then
We’ve agreed on this before…
