Yeah, I thought the last 30 minutes might save the film but it misses an open goal. The kindest thing I’d say about the film is that it’s pretty dull.

Im in the final stretch, the fact I am on my phone says it sll

Yeah, same with me. I bought a jigsaw puzzle for no reason except that I hadn’t done one for maybe 35 years and found myself piecing that together whilst having the film on in the background.

Which ones? Which was your favourite and the worst of the day?

The kid from ET sure does look like Jack Nicholson though

Didn’t realise it was him at all. I like spotting those types of things but missed that completely.

Yeah the ending majorly fluffs it. Started off promising, then just gets worse the longer it goes on. No need for it to be 3 hours

Watched Booksmart for the… fifth? time today. Just… absolutely the best.

Both leads in that film are brilliant.

It’s not the worst film I’ve seen all week. I’ve had days off work and have done little else but it’s the one I’ve been most disappointed in. It had the budget, cast etc. I’ve not read any Stephen King books but understand that Kubrick’s film wasn’t quite what the book was and apparently this film was close to the book.

I’m glad Kubrick took the ball and ran with it and produced a classic.

The kid that played young Danny and also the Shelley Duvall actress were great. One of the few good things in the film.

I’ll (try and) stop moaning about Doctor Sleep now. I’ll end up sounding like a broken record.

Plz watch Edge of Seventeen soon if you haven’t, my ultimate late-10s teen dramedy

Booksmart and Edge Of Seventeen compliment each other brilliantly. Great coming of age films.

oh yes that’s what I was trying to say

I don’t think I’ve seen Kaitlyn Dever in anything that’s not a great film/series.

Short Term 12 is worth a must see for anyone that hasn’t yet. Kaitlyn Dever’s in it as is Brie Larson and Remi Malek pre-Oscar wins; more Larson though who’s amazing.

Another heart warming film to watch during the shit current times.

The Kubrick changes a lot from the book which is why King hated it. He made his own mini series of it and it wasnt great

Going back to the Overlook was a joy but then they also did that in Ready Player One which takes the sheen off.

I dunno when i started I was really pleased it had its own direction and story to tell but then that drags for ages

Its the lead from Starry Eyes who plays Wendy which is a great film

I guess being able to do 100 takes is one of the advantages of shooting on digital over film. I think it’s pretty unnecessary but apparently he does it so the actors forget they’re acting and likes to cast people who deep down share some personal traits with their characters like Affleck in Gone Girl for this reason.

Olivia Wilde has had a pretty strange career… Is there anyone else where their directorial debut is generally seen as a better film than their entire career? (don’t really count Her)

Malina (1991)
Home (2008)
Tokyo Sonata (2008)
Wild Strawberries (1957)
The Bodyguard (1992)
Perfect 10 (2020)
It Couldn’t Happen Here (1987)

Tokyo Sonata wins the prize. Was pretty underwhelmed by Perfect 10, felt like a Fish Tank knock off to me. Home is absolutely brilliant and currently on MUBI.
