Reckon the team is only lacking a clinical finisher, if it had that it could have swept this season. I don’t blame the club for trying to land Messi because my god, if there was even the sliver of a chance why wouldn’t you try, but if they’d put those resources into Haaland, say, it might be a different story. In the end we have a broken, ageing Aguero and an injured back-up who’s nothing like as good, and that’s the sum total of our striking options.
Can’t entirely give them credit for Dias either given they wasted about two months chasing after Koulibaly first. Wallies.
We should try ditching this inverted front three and mix it up a bit more. Obviously he’s had to experiment with Sterling in the middle and with a false nine, but we could at least try a spell of Sterling back on the right and a left-footed player on that side. We don’t get behind sides like we used to.
Surprised he’s not brought in a specialised finishing coach as well. A lot of the time we get in positions and players seem to deliberate, as if they’re short of confidence to put their foot through the ball.
Does also feel like we’re letting sentiment get in the way when it comes to signing another striker. Can sort of understand why they might not want to rock the boat by getting a huge name in, but someone proven to come in short-term to gee people up a bit.
Same but nope, he doesnt have much to say on it really.
He’s aware of the clip and takes it in good humour as Josh asks him about him and the 14 year old and Nev is like ‘have you even watched it? The kids 13!’
Ripped the piss out of him for suggesting this about four months back, but the more time passes the more I think that would’ve been a canny move. Man’s absolutely desparate to get out of Wolverhampton and all. Rare moment of the machinations of anti-banter throwing out a piece of crystal clarity.
