Reading through the responses of these super-rich high net worth individuals in this article and shaking my head. ‘Oh, I might not be able to educate little Mondelez at Eton!’ Get to Monaco then, you shirker, and good riddance.

Seriously what am I missing here

‘Peter Hargreaves, who has an estimated fortune of £3bn’

‘Hargreaves said he paid about £40m in tax last year, and “if 50 of us [the biggest taxpayers] got on a plane and left, that would put a big hole in the chancellor’s budget”.’

So… if he has a worth of £3bn - what difference does it make if he pays £40 million or £80 million or £120 million? I’m missing the bit where I understand how it negatively effects the ultra rich, I get (don’t have any sympathy really but understand it) the bit about ‘oh I might be able to send Tabitha to private school’ or whatever, but I don’t understand the objections from the ultra wealthy

What do they actually lose in any real sense? Why do they care if they have 1 billion or 2 billion?

It says everything you need to know about the mindset of these absolute dicks, frankly.

Individual Torymanic rich maybe, but the city of London would welcome a Corbyn government if it meant remaining. The Pound would skyrocket even at the idea of a second ref was coming

Oh yeah, business would be happy as Larry, but these ‘business leaders’ would be very sad, and that’s a real shame. A real, real shame.

When you get to a particular point it’s about keeping score - if you’ve ever played a game and tried to climb higher on the high score table, that’s the exact mentality.

Difference is, in a game you’re not actively taking something away from everyone else - it’s an entirely artificial number.

Just looking at the stats from the last few GEs and realised that the “Theresa fought a shitty campaign, that’s how Labour made gains and they won’t make that mistake again” is fully bogus. Treeza actually increased the Tories’ vote share and raw number of votes over both Cameron’s 2015 and 2010 wins. You can point out in hindsight that lots of things were shit about the campaign, but the Tories big strength was in that election, as in most, that the media are fully onside. Brexit really drove people towards the Tories, it was Corbyn that blocked them. Surely people have hugely lost faith in the Tories by now and Johnson really can’t hope to do as well as last time, that was a surge and no way after 2 disastrous years will it surge again. Labour just need to try to get back most of their 2017 vote and fend off a potentially resurgent Lib Dems and we’re golden.

You should be able to increase the font size
