The irony is that in the early 80s (citation needed), British Telecom proposed rolling out fibre optic cable to every home in the UK. Thatcher said no because it was monopolistic.

One of my good friends was on FB was despairing about the state of everything, how it looks so bleak being in the grip of the right wing press, and the march of the Tories etc. I told her about this thread, the posters on here, and how there are people fighting back. She actually took comfort from it I think.
