dont @ me I went to an urban comprehensive in Thatcher’s Britain

Aside from all the incentives to work that he lists and the obvious negligible difference that an extra £20 a week in tax will make

…if he has a job that pays him 80k that doesn’t in and of itself contain any reward in the form of status, a sense of achievement & contribution to society and/or personal pride & joy then MAYBE THE PROBLEM IS CAPITALISM

Urggghhhh…

People are just shit - that the view of ‘oh those people aren’t really poor! , they have a television’
can exist at the same time as
‘I can’t afford to pay an extra £100 in tax a year’ (if in a high tax bracket)

just breaks my mind a little

Just seen that £80,000 clip from last night, if he’s earning £80,000 before tax he is either tax dodging or stretching the truth for his own point, which is completely wrong. Plus someone from Bolton earning £80,000. LOL.

Hmmmm, not cool

Actually it might not be tax dodging he mentioned PAYE as well so he might be some sort of contractor. He could have his own limited company and he pays himself through that as an independent contractor and potentially is paying less tax than a permanent employee of a company. It sounded iffy.

I would say so, even if not directly. If we had legal cannabis like in US states - where I could go to a shop, buy pre-prepared edibles or joints, be talked through different strains / effects etc, be assured of quality, I would definitely be interested in using it. Right now, I’m still interested, but the illegality means I have no way of sourcing it (none of my friends use, I don’t know any dealers, I’d be wary of shopping online) and would always be concerned about being caught (even though as a middle class white guy I know logically the risk would be very small).

banning drugs doesn’t prevent people taking them, it only prevents people taking them safely

Sure.

Just remembered my parents in fact - who read the Daily Mail (“for the TV guide”) until a few years ago, don’t smoke, rarely drink, once bollocksed me for having a lighter in my pocket that I literally found on a park bench (I’ve never been a smoker) - in short, the least likely pair of drug users you could imagine - went to Amsterdam earlier this year and tried brownies! Because it was legal and my dad thought it might help his chronic neck pain. I absolutely believe loads of people would be interested in experimenting with weed if it were legal.

Did a lot when I was young.

Like hyg’s sitch. If they were legal I’d get something fun for a big night out once every couple of months but cba with the hassle of trying to source some, get it into a club with it etc. So I don’t bother.
