I would like drugs to be legal and for this to be the situation, fwiw. But ‘banning drugs doesn’t stop people from taking drugs’ is a bit too sweeping a statement.

No doubt it has zero effect in stopping the most at risk users from taking drugs though

What a silly sausage. I do chuckle at the notion of kids being sent to a private school as a consequence of them underperforming, as opposed to maintaining their families’ status as members of an elitist and secluded group

So sick of the where’s the incentive to work stuff. even following the stupid logic that people only care about money and will definitely get more if they work harder, people’s take home pay will still increase if their salary does even with higher taxation

I too suspect I would still be taking drugs if I could just pick some up whilst doing the weekly shop

so it sounds like the issue with both your parents & @aggpass is a much a safety & accessibility issue as legal one

inextricably linked of course

Yes, because they are inaccessible because they are illegal.

Well yeah I don’t give a toss about the law, but the safety and accessibility are directly linked to their legal status

I have no idea what you think this line of argument is but I’m not sure it’s a particularly solid one

In case anyone has any use for the evidence behind the £80k is the 95th percentile stat, this is as good as any (and is more recent than the Guardian’s factcheck source).

Does anyone have any crumbs of comfort from those horrendous council byelection results to boost our morale at all?

Access to drugs is a factor, but it’s caught up in a mass of other socio-economic influences, and I would say that the ethical (taking money from criminals, safety for users, de-stigmatisation) and economic advantages of legalisation leave the question of “would people be using it more” in the dust in terms of relevancy
