she’s also not wrong that lowest price is not necessarily best value

IIRC there are no EU rules that mandate that contracts must be awarded to the lowest bid tho’

and everyone clapped

Any exchange of words with Liz Truss that isn’t a suggestion she take a long walk off a short pier is intrinsically wrong.

I read a good article about this a few years back when schools in Edinburgh were falling to bits. It pointed out one of the big flaws with Government procurement procedure is that if it falls to politicians to make the decision on a contract award - either directly or indirectly - they will always go for the cheapest option as they’ll never be rewarded for spending more than they need to.

There’s definitely no EU rules that implore public bodies to pick the cheapest option and I’d bet any politician who suggests so is either making shit up to a) piss on the EU or b) justify some shitty procurement decision they made in the past.

That’s Brexit in a nutshell isn’t it. “The bloody EU does this bad thing” yes the thing is bad, no the EU doesn’t do it

It’d almost be better if she was straight up lying about this, because if the truth is that she just doesn’t know that’s incredibly worrying.

Just realised both Swinson and Johnson could lose their seats. Lovely stuff.

I could see this happening since the Lib Dems managed to win in Islington during the EU elections too.

Islington is fiercely anti-brexit so Labour’s position, whilst reasonable, could be a tricky one to manage.

Seriously, prepare to be incredibly worried.

Nah he’s been there for eons, safe as houses purely on his actual work in the community

To be clear, that was actually a Flavable prediction, not a YouGov constituency poll as implied by the small print

If Corbyn’s under threat then Swinson will indeed become our next PM as she promised.

Yeah touch wood it’s just a prediction however the candidate that Labour ran in Islington during the EU election was Laura Parker who was an excellent candidate.

Nah. His tone’s condescending, but don’t think that in itself makes it mansplaining given that he’s a professor of economics at King’s College and has relevant experience. That said, obviously happy to be corrected by someone who isn’t a man
