Rhythm Section with Bradley Zero is a good 'un: runs the gamut from all sorts of wonky street soul, dub, r&b, ‘world’ music to loads of new house and techno (and tech house) from a very knowledgable and personable guy.
This show from a few weeks back was good - went into a big hi-NRG section in the middle:

Met Bradley Zero once and can confirm he’s lovely irl.
Haven’t listened to it much but listened to a bit of Maria Somerville’s show a couple of months ago and enjoyed that (and discovered The American Analog Set)
Previously listened a couple of years ago when someone I know did a 2 hour Devo mix on there

Oh yeah, stumbled on this one day working from home, it’s just a mix but it single-handily got me into The B52s.
Haven’t listened to it in a hot minute but the monthly Last Resort is a fine listen

OK, right, does anyone fancy doing a beginner’s guide to NTS? It doesn’t seem to work like any radio station I’ve ever listened to before, Should we be listening to live streams? Is it, like, a broadcast station with actual DJs, or is it all pre-recorded shows that they also happen to put out as a live stream? Are the two streams related in any way? Do you have to pay to get the track listings?
I already feel like I’m not cool enough to understand this

I never really put it on for a casual listen, I just try and keep up-to-date (or stick on a random archive set) with the Weatherall/David Holmes/Sofay & Ribeka/Optimo residencies, so I normally only check it out a few per month. I’m rejigging my wfh setup soon though, so will try and be better equipped to do some weird radio listening in the afternoons because you always find something great.

Basically, on archived shows if there’s a tracklist then anyone can see it, but only subscribers get the timestamps as well, which isn’t that big a deal.
But basically there’s no way to find out what’s currently playing other than by Shazaming it? And they don’t back-announce or anything, it’s just like DJ sets at a club? OK.
It depends on the show, lots of DJs will talk through the show and explain what’s being played.

Big fan of the Head Zone with Ripley Johnson
Generally, Monday to Friday from 7am to 1pm are live shows starting with the Early Bird show, then The Breakfast show, followed by the Soup To Nuts show. These are all live and more like traditional radio shows. After that there are resident shows that are mostly monthly or bi-monthly by a mixture of residents. NTS 1 is the main station I guess, and NTS 2 has more repeats and other weird features. For me, I found it took a couple of months of daily listening before I figured out how it worked and what I wanted to listen to.

Your other option is to jump into the Discord to see if the DJ’s posted what they’re currently playing in there.
It is frustrating if you listen when driving as you may not be able to find out what’s playing until hours or days afterwards.
I end up forgetting about it which is why I’ve stopped listening for the most part (same goes for Gilles Peterson tbf when he plays seven tracks in a row before providing any kind of back anno).
