Forgot about this, great track imo
Hope they’re being forced to play each other’s songs together against their will. RA prowling around the front of the stage shouting ‘tha don’t like it’ during Walkaway
Hope they’re in for the US dates too
Cage the elephant unless I dreamt it
Nah
Lad I went to school with lives in California now. Got to relive the exact same ticket drama as the British dates on Facebook.
Wild stuff.
- they will see all of these dates through
- there will be another backstage fruit throwing/scuffle incident causing them to break up mid-way through again
- pre-tour barney will mean the whole things cancelled
It’s the manics
All Change is better than any Oasis album
Fucking hell how pissed is Coxon there
Quite often when someone (sometimes myself, sometimes not, and not too much on here) has said something derogatory about what GBoLs they’re not, the criticism has come back that it’s just people looking down on the working class. Which it blatantly isn’t. But… £150 for the tickets at face value - more than double that with the surge pricing - why would any of us need to piss on the working class, were we so inclined, when they’re so adept at doing it themselves?
- Got them all
- Didn’t get 1
- Didn’t get 2
- Didn’t get 3
- Didn’t get more than 3
I didn’t get Stand By Me, fuming
Yeah, I see your point. I have definitely seen people look down their nose at them online for reasons that aren’t just about what they’re like, but I’ve also seen people label valid criticism of them as being classism. I probably wouldn’t have bothered making the point were it not for them being labelled Band of the People while currently pricing so many of said people out.
Check out Beggy Mitchell over here
Same way Springsteen is the Bard of the Common Man while regularly charging eye watering gig prices
I don’t disagree.
Per hour, he’s probably on a par with your average big act
Springsteen and Oasis (particularly Noel) are obviously incredibly wealthy rock stars who very much enjoy the yacht, south of France, hanging with film stars lifestyle*, they’re very removed from working class life and their business decisions are part of that. I don’t think many people (whether fans or not) deny that.
Their work and careers can still have particular resonance with a working class fanbase though, whether that’s because of their own backgrounds or what they write songs about, and people can be classist when they have a go at what those fanbases like, regardless of the behaviour of the acts themselves.
*I think Noel has told a story about being in Europe somewhere and being told by Mick Jagger’s daughter that Calvin Klein and Bruce Springsteen were coming to lunch with them, if you want to tie this all together.
