Noel’s voice hasn’t declined at all, mad how perfect he sounded belting out the Acquiesce chorus
He does do that thing now though where he’ll step away from the mic for a pre-chorus and let the crowd take it, so that he has his wind back in time for the chorus. Did it for Masterplan, DLBIA, Half The World Away….
Cunning little devil
They should play She’s Electric and Round Are Way
Liam getting told off by Owen Morris back in the day
Yeah I’m thinking more Alt-J
Who the fuck is screaming log off at my house. Show yourself coward. i will never log off.
yeah, I’ve never Alt+J’d in my life
Looking again, you know the one song that stands out for me as odd is Cast No Shadow. I didn’t even recognise the name. I just looked it up and apparently it’s on What’s The Story, so I listened and have no recollection of it at all. Seems a strangely forgettable one to include. Has it always been in their sets, any other reason for it to be there? Or is it a banger and I just need to listen again?
Always assumed everyone had to tread on eggshells with Liam There wasn’t even anything wrong with that vocal though either if only he knew how bad it would get
It’s a well known song but also a surprising inclusion in the live set
Guess it’s a personal favourite of one of them or something
Like what does he mean about the vocal? Sounds perfect
I’d say it’s a pretty well liked album track, it’s a bit surprising they’re playing it now because it looks like they barely played it live at all after the mid 90s but I don’t think it’s an obscurity and I think a huge proportion of people in the crowd will know every word.
It was also written for / dedicated to Richard Ashcroft so makes sense to play it while he’s touring with them and might be the motivation for bringing it back.
Is it nuts to see Pitchfork calling it “perhaps the biggest reunion in our lifetime”?
I’d expect a USA based music organisation to rank the Guns n Roses reunion quite a bit higher
Think it’s objectively Liam’s best vocal performance other than Slide Away, and although it’s not quite on the level of Acquiesce for shared vocals it’s one where they both bring so much to it.
If I’d been there not knowing what they were playing I think it’s the one song I’d have lost it at.
Seen clips of the first two shows. Loving it. They look great, sound great. Rock and roll needs them back. Got tickets for the first night at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ later this summer. Pumped.
Seem to remember he did it all in one take and they were happy with it!
G’n’R never really split up though, there’s a lot of contemporary reports of recording sessions and membership changes throughout the late 90s while they weren’t releasing anything or playing live.
Assuming Led Zep/Pink Floyd one-offs don’t count, what else would be in contention?
