Considering Nails* are playing the same venue, but in a smaller room, are in a smaller band, will play for less time and are charging £37, I’m now looking at £30 Chat Pile and thinking that seems not too bad… which ain’t good.
(* I know it’s not Nails setting the prices, it’s a promoter, and it seems like sky is the limit if you’re a promoter at the moment.)

I was just a bit shocked at the asking price. They’re good, but their appeal is certainly more niche than Chat Pile’s (although some crossover tbf) resulting in playing a smaller cap room but somehow charging more for a ticket. In my head it’s a £20 gig, and based on nothing but vibes I reckon the band would get paid the same fee regardless of whether it was £20 or £37 but someone else is making a killing because greedy bastards like Live Nation have smashed the glass ceiling on charging whatever they want.
everything in london seems to be around/over £30 these days tbh - my current saved list on dice - these are not big venues!
I was quite surprised at the price for Bonnie Prince Billy in Glasgow later this year - £50 I think. I know he’s a legend but felt kinda steep!
