I managed to catch Ladyworld as part of the LFF, pretty intense almost uncomfortable lord of the flies esque drama about several girls trapped in an apartment after a natural disaster. Can’t really say too much about it without spoiling the plot but their situation is complicated once one of them makes a ‘discovery’.

Probably not to be honest!

saw blindspotting and the hate u give on consecutive days, bizarre how much they’ve got in common and out at the same time…

police shooting unarmed victim in road
gun going off at houseparty
small child getting hold of gun, scaring people
two friends arguing about white privilege
set in or influenced by bay area

defo preferred hate u give, even if it was very slick for my taste, still really good. did this subtle twinkly piano during emotional bits that got me every time, reminded me of mogwai, which felt odd (but not bad), given the hip hop soundtrackThis text will be blurred

I don’t know what to think. Two people who’s opinions I’d probably think are alright both really liked bohemian rhapsody.

American Animals was so so good

the callbacks sound like they’re crowd-pleasers which just proves that crowds are easily manipulated/amused imo

“what if…Laurie is the real boogeyman? Genius!” Just risible, risible stuff.

I didnt take that from it at all

yeah, fair enough. but i’ve definitely seen a couple of interpretations along those lines and there’s a couple of shots that suggest the concept, if ony briefly. even if not, just the whole thing of directly copying shots from the original seems so bankrupt to me. Much more clever and hilarious was the dismissal of Laurie/Michael’s sibling relationship

i dunni, I saw them more as good setpieces which are still effrctive and a good throwback for series fans. I am not a fan of the series though so maybe if I was I would read it differently

Cracking up at Lady Gaga’s manager in A Star Is Born. ‘Let’s just have him be British and a bit of a wanker’.
