C2 is solid though I doubt it’s aged well. I actually want to do a Kevin Smith mini-marathon now, I liked them a whole lot first time round and wonder how Chasing Amy especially would hold up now

There’s an advance screening of Jay & Silent Bob Reboot + Q&A with Kevin Smith at the BFI

Four Lions kinda sucked, much of Jam too, what were y’all expecting from the Morris movie? He’s like Daft Punk; people keep expecting genius from him but he peaked 20 years ago.

Four Lions was great, can’t believe it’s getting slated so much here.

i thought it was alright. it’s not great obvs, but was alright

Hard pass

i didn’t have especially high hopes after Four Lions but it’s surprisingly bad, i guess i was just hoping it’d be at least passable

@LilWoodyToodelly and @dingaling further to the likes from the thread the other day, would you be interested in skyping into the pod or however you do it, at some point? or indeed any DiSers with opinions about movies (peeps in this thread i guess!)? @ttf could be interesting to do an ep where you school me about star wars imo. i was thinking it would be fun to broaden it out as we go along, the TV works some brutal shifts so she isn’t always up for talking film. if i give you a list of what we’re thinking about covering in the weeks to come would that work, just choose what you like the look of?

DM if you’re interested!

@whiterussian too, no pressure ofc! but i reckon some good horror chat could be had here

Such a good film

:hammer:

Die Batman, Die :de:

The Last Tree - really strong British drama that manages to cover some well worn tropes and still managing to pack a punch. Things about school bullying are massively triggering for me and it made me quite claustrophobic and sick at times. Not a bad thing!

**Good Posture ** - Frances Ha-lite satire focusing on an obnoxious spoilt brat that has nothing to worry about in life and yet we are expected to root for her. Funny when it needed to be but pretty forgettable.

Just watched Gerald’s Game. So bad and boring. If you google it loads of people say it’s good for some weird reason.

Gemini Man

Perfectly good action film reminiscent of Bourne and M:I
Spies, assassins, spotters, handlers, all that sort of stuff. Miles better than those rumours from a few months back would have you believe. Ang Lee is actually a very good and competent director.
A lot of the CG is stunning (some of it is not)
The first two acts were great fun.
Will Smith, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Benedict Wong bring heft, depth and heart to pretty standard roles.
Old one-note Clive does what he does. A vaguely menacing vacuum of believability. Bad choice.
Worth going just to watch Will Smith getting beaten up by a motorcycle
