Bear in mind that the part of Scotland where she’s from is also one of the most upper-middle class, too. Her Scottish accent has never been strong.

yeah i knew she had one of those quite English sounding Scottish accents but i never noticed the West Countryisms before (i’ve avoided hearing her speak very much tbf and didn’t know she was Scottish for ages)

I know they can’t do this, but my personal preference would be for a longer extension that was contingent on (something that gave a clearer view of what was actually going on) happening

Surely they must be fully pissed off at all the childish idiocy by now. Pretty sure Europe has a bunch of other stuff to deal with, like, large parts of Barcelona are basically a giant running protest at the moment.

I was surprised to learn Swinson was Scottish because I thought her accent sounded like broad west country. (I guess I’m saying I’m totally with you on what you’re hearing.)

Keep staring at it. Surely they understand that the WW2 vibe has been fully co-opted by the Leave side. What on earth do they think this is saying to anyone? Or maybe it’s literally aimed at marginals with an ageing population who might make the connection in order to get Boomer and older Remainers to vote Lib Dem, in which case maybe it’s weirdly genius.

(To put into context, though, I am 44, and the bit of history I am most familiar with is pre-War and WW2, and without the explanation I wouldn’t ever have twigged what this was riffing on and would have just been completely baffled.)
