…indeed, on the contrary, this is clearly the recipe for toppling LibDem leaders. Have you considered moving to East Dunbartonshire?

You’re a smart man.

Absolutely spot on. I mean I know they get shredded on here but most of the time I’m like “well how else do you expect the third party* in our rotten electoral system to behave?”.

*asterisked for SNP caveat

There was a Labour MP there from 97 to 2010, and minus the incumbency benefit it could be closer than you think!

gonna register to vote in my parents constituency when I move back, the place i’ll be living in London looks pretty safe Labour, and the chance to vote Jeremy Hunt out is too tempting.

Me over the next six weeks whenever I hear someone in the office saying how Labour and the Tories are both bad, I suspect I’m going to be doing this a lot

Gutted I’m moving from South Woodford as the Labour PPC is Faiza Shaheen and she is absolutely awesome and I really wanted to help her beat IDS. Think she has a real chance.

Mr Burgon said Labour would be pushing to get votes for 16 and 17-year-olds, as well as EU nationals so they can have their say.

crosses fingers

Heidi Allen has had enough / somehow got some mooks to offer her a cushy private sector number

Same, looking forward to cracking a beer open as the absolute boy storms to victory. I obviously don’t have any Tory mates though. If anyone needs me to harass their Tory mates from afar hmu.

So what time are we expecting a vote on all this then?

You’d have to be a proper horrible bastard to vote for Boris Johnson and this lot of tories. You’d have to be someone completely lacking in altruism, decency, and empathy. Your selfish gains mean more to you than having a society that could be better for everyone and you don’t care about people worse off getting completely fucked over.

Even worse: tories that defend their voting by saying “JC is worse though” or something horrible defensive to that effect. Like, they’re aware of how selfish they’re being, but don’t want to actually face up to that.

I know I’m being an echo chamber, but, I’m just perpetually furious at all of this.

I’m not so sure. He got re-elected twice despite the decimation of local health services which united the local community. The previous Labour candidate was really excellent and while he managed to add several thousand votes, the incumbent’s still grew by several thousand.

Does anyone know if the proposed boundary changes have been enacted yet? I know Bill Cash’s seat would have been affected as would I think Gareth Snell’s in Stoke.

Not yet. Definitely. If it had everybody would fucking know about it cos there’d be 50 fewer MPs. Not sure why I added a caveat there.

The boundary changes got shelved when the Tories lost their majority I think, you can bet they’ll bring them back if they win this election
