Might listen to their first record. Remember loving it at the time.

She is odd, but it’s not that uncommon - think Blair & Thatcher are the only recent PMs to have stood down at the next election, most of them hang around being ignored for a while

Cameron?

I think they played various end of year balls every year I was at university. They really put the hours in.

Honestly it’s fucking horrendous that anyone has to experience that, especially in a progressive party and in an enlightened modern age. Never sought to minimise any personal experiences, I was more looking at the treatment/representation of Corbyn and issues around him, particularly online.

Oh yeah, and Gordon Brown too, now you mention it. Ignore me.

Blimey he’s changed. I’ve not seen them since 2005ish. Actually probably more like 2008.

Can someone do an expanding brain meme with various levels of yellow map accompanied by Farron’s faces of increasing delight

Anti-semitism absolutely exists

Anti-semitism on the left absolutely exists

The claim that anti-semitism is a Labour problem is (often) a smear

Anti-semites within Labour hide their racism behind the smear accusation (just as all racists protest their mistreatment at the hands of an aggressor ‘seeking out’ problems)

Anti-Muslims (both Christian and Jewish) often try to silence criticism of human rights abuses by Israel by claiming such criticisms are anti-semitic

Anti-semites do often co-opt pro-Palestinian campaigns as a way to legitimise their anti-semitism

The right-wing, military, colonial Israeli Government benefits hugely from the ‘you’re either with us or you’re with the terrorists’ absolutism of anti-Israel=anti-Semitic

There are plenty of left-wing progressive Jews both within & without Israel who fight tooth & nail for Palestinian rights

The Tories & media have managed to succeed in coining the phrase ‘Labour Antisemitism’ in much the same way as Trump’s team managed to succeed in coining the phrase ‘Crooked Hillary’ - thus co-opting an age-old internal struggle between Jewish global socialists & Jewish nationalists for their own cynical ends

Fucking Chinatown Jake

Both Gordon Brown and John Major stick around in Parliament for a full term after losing elections / resigning as PM/leader.

I apologise all the same though, not the best place for the ol’ bombastic tone

I’ve figured out what’s happening here… They’ve asked candidates to sign up to a specific pledge and are only recommending those who do rather than finding out what candidates believe themselves.

lol. careful lads

With the caveat that I don’t have loads of Jewish friends, many of them do feel this way. I don’t think it’s about a Labour Government per se, but the kinds of groups who they perceive as seeing a victory for Corbyn as vindication of their views/prejudices. Comparable to the spike in hate crimes when Trump was elected.

I am not of the opinion that he is an antisemite but at best it’s a huge blind spot for him and his team, to the point that he doesn’t realise when he is associating with antisemites. the reasons for this could be debated endlessly; while Rachel Riley is laying it on thick here, it’s possible - probable, even - that the sentiment behind what she’s saying represents how British Jewish communities feel.
