The key is leaning to retrain your brain to enjoy the boring stuff, and to limit the yearn for self-improvement to realistic levels. I get absolutely manic about stuff - better job, get fit, need more hobbies, etc, to the point that i struggle to really relax doing the fun but boring stuff.
I think it’s good to have a bit of a change of scenery, try new things, and to have a broad plan, but you’ve got to remember to do nothing a lot of the time, or to do one thing at a time, and not everything has to be going somewhere. We’ve become programmed to squeeze little bits of the boring stuff around the frenzied chug of everyday life, where it should be the other way round.
