I like that FAQ. It’s not passive aggressive, it’s just grumpy. I stand in solidarity with my fellow grumps.

Obviously I’d never dream of going in there though.

As much as the people in the OP are clearly psychopaths who should never be allowed to engage with the general public, i do share most of their frustrations with modern human-beings.

I don’t think pubs, bars and cafes need wifi, and i do quite the idea of quiet, technology-free places, but running your own business and purposely alienating customers is fucking silly and a sign that either you’ve got too much money or you’re incredibly uptight.

Surely it would be easier just to have no wi-fi at all?

That is correct, well done you. Now please sit down at one of our perfectly adequate tables and eat your non-egg based meal in silence and don’t even think about surfing the internet.

I never use shit cafe WiFi anyway - generally 3/4g on my phone is better and requires less pissing about

Five pounds quid for the first DiSer that rocks up at this cafe and records themselves asking the owner all the FAQ questions

There should 100% be more public spaces in the UK with no purchase policies where you can sit and do what you want.

Find these coffee shops that have policies like the ones mentioned work under a guise to get people away from their phones and laptops and to focus on each other and coffee and aren’t we such a great people focused business!!! But in reality they want you to drink your flat white as quickly as possible and fuck off.

I appreciate this is an extremely tepid take, but I get pretty irked by stuff like this.

Very very cheap

It’s not a public space though is it? It’s a café.

Aye, but not sure why there can’t be more indoor public spaces.

Incidentally, Starbucks have recently (I think) adopted a no purchase policy for their toilets and to just have a general sit down there.

Well there used to be libraries. Back in the days when I was in short trousers.

i dunno, as much as i agree with the sign’s sentiment, i’m not entirely convinced a racist will go to enter, see the sign and go “oh dear, no racists welcome, i better go elsewhere!”

oh i see this has been covered and i should read the whole thread first.

That’s kind of fair enough, it’s not their fault it got stuck in customs, the fees were due and they were right to remind why taxes are important

yeah they definitely don’t and i’ve got no problem with a bar or cafe that doesn’t have wifi. but one that has wifi but turns it off at certain times and gets arsey on their website about it is definitely a bit weird.

i really like how when you google this place the description promises ‘good vibes’

“We love food, we love chit chat and we love people”

When you’ve already paid about $20 to get it shipped to you though and there is no mention about possible customs fees when checking out it would be nice to get a smidgen of sympathy from them when you have to then pay another $15 to get it released to you weeks after you ordered the thing.

That’s just completely standard though, the customs rules are pretty transparent, a lot of the time things slip through the net but it’s out of the sellers hands, it’s not like they are getting anything above the $20 they ask for shipping
