I don’t mind Black Panther getting a nom at all but I think they maybe could have fucked off Bohemian Rhapsody, Green Book and Vice for First Man, Beale Street and Cold War. I dunno.
Ah well, it’s just a load of shit isn’t it really?

I wonder if Barry Jenkins will have anything to say about it tonight at the Beale Street Q&A

No First Man nominations
Also think that Sunflower from Spiderverse should’ve been nominated for best song

Got four technical nominations

Deserved a few more though

That is true! No nomination for Best Score was a real shame too

Lynne Ramsay did a much better job than any of these in my opinion

Spiderman’s to lose

Aside from Mckay, it looks like a really good shortlist to be honest. And You Were Never Really Here was never going to be in the Academy’s wheelhouse anyway (plus it came out last spring and made virtually no money)

It’s a textbook example of a perfect plane film, IMO.

Watch it. It’s good (but not Spike Lee’s best).

Black Panther being nominated for best picture is like that one jazz album on the Mercury list.

Good, but the best?

Spike Lee’s first director nom, that’s mental.

Yeah wanted to see it at the cinema but was poorly on the day we were meant to go, tend to not really bother with films at home outside of Netflix/tv but may get round to it at some point

Surely the opposite of the jazz album. It’s the little mix album getting a Mercury nom or something

(and was also the best directed film of the year)

Whoever won the year of Do the Right Thing should give the award back because that shit is a travesty
