Feel like it’s been a really good year and perhaps the field is slightly more open than it has been for a few years? Quite a few films would deserve the top gong, same in the acting categories.
I guess Oppenheimer is favourite, but I’d be very happy if any of The Holdovers, Past Lives or Poor Things won.
Pointless Oscar trivia game - there was a run of films in the late 80s into the 90s which won an acting Oscar whilst not getting nominated in any other category (e.g. Wall Street, The Accused, Misery, City Slickers, My Cousin Vinny). Since 1995 six more films have won an acting Oscar and got zero other nominations, what are those films?
Christopher Nolan and Da’Vine Joy Randolph are both winning, the other major categories aren’t quite as certain yet I think, though Oppenheimer is definitely the strong favourite for Best Picture
Not sure if there’s been any talk of this, haven’t been keeping up with the wider awards season, but would be great to see Anaita Wali Zada get a nomination for Fremont.
Really hoping Anatomy of a Fall or Holdovers gets best original screenplay.
Does feel like it’s between those two, can’t think of any other major contenders (Past Lives will likely get a nomination but don’t see it winning)

The Blind Side?
No to all, sorry (Crazy Heart won Best Song and Maggie Gyllenhaal was nominated, The Blind Side was nominated for Best Picture, The Queen got six nominations)
Animated film is likely to be Wish, Elemental, Boy + Heron, Spiderverse + one more (possibly Nimona).

Anyway, no idea.
To be honest considering how much the Oscars eats that sort of crap up surprised it didn’t get more nominations!

If animals could be nominated for best actor, it’d go to Alma the dog from Fallen Leaves (dir. Aki Kaurismaki).
