Looking forward to being allowed to visit old peoples houses again, so I can go round to my nan’s for some proper chips done in the chip pan.

As an answer to the question, if you’re after a French fry then M+S do some decent skin on one’s. And Aldi do (or did last time I went) some nice chunky ones in beef dripping.

Have definitely got into oven chips in lockdown. They’re way better than I remember them being.

Lifehack: Get a roasting tin with some oil in it super-hot like you would if you were making roasties, then chuck a bunch of oven fries in there, shake them about a bit then oven cook as normal. They come out like proper double/triple-fried chips at home.

Lidl’s version of this is very good indeed.

Always end up getting these. Cover them in salt and parmesan then drizzle a bit of truffle oil over them, OH yes.

Oh wait, am i allowed fries?

… also, what the actual hell is this?

Sainsbury’s ‘rustic fries’ are basically these I think and are really good.

Oven chips = good. Salt, smoked paprika, cumin, maybe some za’atar if you’re feeling perky, shove em in the oven. Take out, have with mayo & hot sauce.

Said it once, I’ll say it again, better than chippy chips (though I occasionally have a craving). However not better than Belgian frites from a friterie.

We get potato cubes from Sainsbury’s, and I do enjoy those a lot more than any of your McCain’s chips

they need to be crinkle cut or there’s no point
good night

I do love a potato cube (or several)

Spar sell nice nice ones, can’t remember the brand

Oven chips are great, and McCain Home Fries are the best. Totally gonna make that S&P chips recipe @CHAIRMAN_LMAO posted this weekend.

someone do a big poll with all the types

find it impossible to not fill the entire tray with chips, so always make more than is…reasonable.

I like to coat them in olive oil before going in unless they’re the gastropub type ones Dewdney posted above, in which case, the batter will suffice.

We make them sometimes but not shop bought, just chop some potatoes and coat them in oil and stuff and put them in the oven. I would use shop bought, but they take up too much freezer space.

ah fuck, just realised my big bag of oven chips for making S&P chips got chucked when our f/f broke down

they were low-quality, tho. will just have to get some decent ones instead.

oh heck, I want that. where do you get your truffle oil?
