I didnā€™t for absolutely years then I saw the things he did for a couple of charities a few years back the you can take it as a pisstake but, he seems to genuinely care. Juxtaposed with the ā€œbanterā€ on his instagram feed and it is just fascinating.

The one Iā€™m most fascinated about at the moment is that he has helped setup some sort of podcast about online trolling and thing that gets to him and he calls out people all the time for is when he is being called nonce which while yes must annoying and offensive etc. in the grand scheme of things when it comes to social media is pretty low down the trolling problems.

Dunno, havenā€™t followed him that closely but I guess itā€™s quite easy to say the right things and cultivate charitable persona for social media for your brand. Not saying he didnā€™t have good intentions when he got involved but itā€™s kinda telling when that clashes with stupid crap you say on social media.

Hate myself for it but went down a tabloid wormhole and read some stuff heā€™d said about being concerned about dating someone over the age of 30 (despite being 58). Pretty gross imo.

Following France and Germany, Switzerland has introduced a 10 day quarantine period for UK travellers because of the Indian variant. Shit.

These green, amber and red lists are soon going to be irrelevant because all European countries will impose 10 day quarantine periods upon arrival.

Or worse, countries may adopt a closed borders policy, halting all travel to/from the UK, as happened in December when the Kent variant became a significant factor in the rise of infections.

We pushed our Greece trip to next year, but Mrs HYG has booked a US trip for herself in September for a wedding (and to see her family for the first time in like two years).

Iā€™ve been in Spain a week and a half, traveled from Sweden. Had to take PCR test to get on the flight and be let into the country but I donā€™t think Iā€™m required to quarantine when I get back (though that could change between now & my return flight next Wednesady I guess)

I donā€™t really get the UK approach, unless theyā€™ve got data that the vaccine doesnā€™t work against the Delta/Indian variant or whatever itā€™s called

Wary of virus mutations, I guess, that might undermine the efficacy of the vaccines.

Just remembered weā€™ve got Iranian enter stamps in our passports, so a nice, welcoming interrogation at Ben Gurion airport awaits us if we decide to go. Great.

The EU will ease travel restrictions: people who have been fully vaccinated for 14 days should be able to travel freely from one EU country to another without tests or quarantines. The system is designed also to apply to non-EU members of the open-border Schengen zone ā€“ Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland, but not to former EU member Britain.

Weā€™ve decided to go to Israel in September, visiting family in Jerusalem and then travelling up to the north, but my god easyJet are certainly trying to claw back the money theyā€™ve lost this year.
