Owen Pallett

And A Bloody Morning

Really enjoying this first tlisten

It’s probably the best song I’ve heard all year, gave me the tingles

This is going to take a bit of time to sink in, I think. I’m about 1.5 listens in and whilst it’s clearly beautiful, not much has really stood out as yet. Looking forward to living with it for a bit though.

I wonder what his reasoning for just dropping it online was? He’s been quiet the past couple of years but I would have thought a proper album campaign usually works for him.

Impossible to say tell or speculate but its increasingly becoming the norm. For example Carly Rae Jepsen dropped an album Thursday and that had very little build up.

oh it’s really good isn’t it

Has he covered Disturbed?

He’s talked on his forum about it having been done since the autumn, but he was saying around that time that his label wanted to release it in early 2020 for commercial reasons. Then I suppose the virus fucked that up and he’s had the green light to just release it now.

For all of your FYIs he’s also remastered and released his two albums Has A Good Home and He Poos Clouds which he originally released in the mid 00s under the name Final Fantasy. They’re both on his bandcamp. I’m really pleased about Has A Good Home in particular because I’ve only ever had that album on vinyl and been unable to find an mp3 download for years, and since my record player hasn’t worked for 3 years that’s 3 years I’ve not been able to hear it.

Saving Island for this weekend, work is too stressful at the minute for me to focus on it, but Heartland is one of my favourite albums of all time, like comfortable top 10 so I’m really excited for this to finally be here :relaxed:

Was just having a Google to see if there would somehow be a physical release of it somewhere, and found this old comment of his from almost three years ago saying that the album was almost finished, and that it’s a narrative Sequel to Heartland:

He teased it even longer ago than that. At the end of the In Conflict touring, so like late 2015, he posted footage of him and a band doing an early Lewis Gets Fucked Into Space rendition in a corridor somewhere and captioned it with there being new music soon. I’ve gone into every year since saying the Heartland sequel is my most anticipated album of the year, can’t believe it’s finally arrived.

I haven’t listened to anything since he was Final Fantasy. Will rectify.

Both those Final Fantasy albums are now on Spotify! Not sure if they’re the remastered ones though.

Edit - seems like they definitely are the remastered ones
