Really hoped someone else would have started a thread before the climbing.

We’re all watching the climbing right?

Sorato will be the favourite but definite GB medal hopes - and potential for gold.

CBA to find out what other sports are on, sorry. That’s what you get for not starting the thread yourself.

Sorry @iridium. Heptathlon long jump for me.

Too invested in it

KJT needs to sort her run up. Got in all sorts of trouble on her stride (and still made over 4m).

Bit annoying that Hall is in Group A rather than B - would be nice to keep tabs on her as well.

β€œthe athletes like it nice and warm” :man_facepalming:

What is the point of the announcer saying a load of nonsense, just hand it over to the commentators.

For some reason can’t get into climbing but massively enjoy the marathon swimming, which is surely the most unwatchable thing ever invented. Sport eh?!

PS I know it’s been said a million times but absolutely fuck swimming in that river.

Hi meths, quick question if I may, are you able to name three UK rivers that you’d be willing to swim a marathon in, please?

EDIT - Accidentally called you Smee, apologies

Aww, they’re giving each other advice on how to the wall

Thanks, mate. God bless x

:man_climbing: Probably very strange for Sorato not to have any other Japanese athletes to discuss them with.

A bit unfair to suggest that Hamish can podium - setting very unrealistic expectations for those who don’t normally watch climbing.

KJT really needs to pull one out of the bag here

Thiam’s gone big, KJT got a banker on on her second jump, but still struggling with the run up I thought. Needs to nail jump 3.

Groundskeeper with the rake needs to shout more at the athletes for messing up his nice sand pit

Having said that, he’s doing very well already!

Would be amazing if he made me eat my words

That said can’t imagine many of them struggling with that - at least not the boulderers. Probably going to have to eat these words too though

Go on Colin! Have a big soft spot for him since that World Cup where they made him redo that boulder three times

Welcome to the BBC coverage

That’s something of relief
