Been a few times. Really enjoy Paris. Montmartre isn’t too bad, but gets pickpockety and scammy at the bottom of the Sacre Coeur. Depending on when you go, the Parc de Buttes-Chaumont is a great place to laze (man made park with grottos and cliffs and lakes and stuff) with nice views across to the Sacre Coeur. The walk down the Canal Saint Martin from the Quai Dr l’Oise to the city is nice enough

Really not a fan, I’ve been about 4 times to play gigs. Don’t let that put you off though I know people who love it there (and this thread can attest to this!)

Found it generally a bit rundown and scummy and generally quite expensive, didn’t get any sense of romance from the city, I actually felt that a lot more in Lyon actually which is bloody lovely.

However the one place I really loved there was Le Truskel. It’s an “indie” bar but it’s open super late the bar staff were super lovely and I think they have gigs there quite often (I haven’t played there myself though). One of my favourite nights out I’ve had whilst touring.
Oh and there was a take away falafel place which was amazing, best falafel I’ve ever had as it goes.

I’m like a shit Anthony Bourdain when I go away, I just look for good bars and find cheap street food, I can’t tell you anything about the typical “touristy” things

The coldest I have ever been was in Paris in November.

Got surrounded by SO MANY people trying to do weird distraction tricks in Montmatre so they could steal things from you. It was a bit scary.

I’ve been a few times for work where I’ve stayed near Châtelet. Otherwise I’ve stayed in La Marais or in the 7th which was £££

YAWN at everyone slating Paris. It’s fucking lovely and you’re trying to hard guys.

I’ve been maybe 6 times now (couple for fun, couple with work) and every time, it’s exciting. The streets are just pretty and lovely, I’ll never tire of seeing the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre and the Pompediu centre and the Notre Dame. Just walking around La Marais is lovely, it’s like being in a film.

Never been with kids though so no idea what to do.

Just remembered they have security guards on rollerblades in supermarkets.

Or some people just don’t like it.

Went once when I was 6. My cousin had to piss in a 7up bottle on the metro, a shopkeeper shouted at me for touching a massive toblerone, and we had to borrow speedos from the local pool because they wouldnt let us swim in shorts. No intention of going back
