I once answered a phone call from Will Gompertz.

I was working at a specialist magazine* and he wanted to ask the editor a straightforward question about something in the industry. He could have easily googled it. Kind of impressed that his instinct to finding out something simple was to phone an expert, but a bit odd.

Our kids played together on a beach in Wales once. They were working on digging a hole in the sand together and I looked up at the dad and thought “that guy has a funny haircut”. But I didn’t say that I just smiled.
