I think in her case she chose a toad as her animal which swung it to Slytherin, can’t remember the other choices but it was like rabbit, dog, cat or toad or something. She had it coming (7 years old etc.)

Look, you might not like it, but the book series introduced a generation of children to reading (and spawned an incredibly successful series of films featuring an unbelievably strong cast of British actors), and I for one think that those “magical” books making that new generation of readers literally incapable of reading any other book for the rest of their lives or banging on about them forever due to some kind of dark magic imbued in the pages is a price worth paying.
