If it was done well, that could be the best thing ever. I am aware that that is a planet sized “if”
Just popping in to recommend the Binti books by Nnedi Okorafor. Very exciting storytelling and great world building
Incredible stuff!
Have had them on my list for ages (think AW recommended them to me), really must get them.
interesting piece on diversity in current SF (&F) publishing via the Clarke Award:
Now that I’ve finished Always Coming Home, here is my collection of the SF Masterworks books that I’ve read (with some bonus red books at the top)
I posted my full set of new books in the normal reading thread, but here are my sci fi specific ones, all by women authors, now that I’m running out of Ursula Le Guin books. Looking forward to seeing what I make of Ancillary Justice after seeing the love/hate on this forum. But I reckon I’ll read a few of the other books first.
China Mountain Zhang is brilliant, didn’t realise it had been reprinted as an SF Masterwork. Memory Called Empire is on my TBR list as well.
Bloody love Nichola Griffith!
I’ve read and liked Ammonite. I think it was you (or someone on this board at least) that also mentioned Slow River, so thought I would add that to my list.
Yay! Hope you love it!
I have… issues with speed of dark, that I can’t discuss without spoiling the ending.
I’ve just started China Mountain Zhang and am 40 pages into it before I knew it! Definitely enjoying it lots so far, which is much needed after I decided to give up the last book that I was reading.
I thought Ancillary Justice was really good. There was a small bit near the start which really put me in mind of the wonderful aspects of Iain M Banks
Sold!
Yeah man.
In the fantasy thread everyone’s slating it.
Can’t remember if Sparrow is the first or second. But I loved the first one. Just quite different.
It’s apparently the first one (I had to go check as I was scared I had bought the second book of a series!)
Good stuff. I was planning on reading the second, but heard it wasn’t great.
After decades of not caring, I have decided to read Bujold’s books. Pretty sure I’ll like them.
