Philip Selway Appreciation Thread

Let’s face it, I did not expect the best sounding album from anyone in that little known Oxfordshire five-piece since In Rainbows to come from Philip, but Strange Dance is such a lush hug. Tell me why you agree with me below.

Also feel free to big up Philip in other ways.

a truly great drummer knows how to drum, and when to drum, but also when not to. and it is a testament to philip selway’s greatness that he chose to rest his sticks for “Creep”. bravo!

I enjoyed the last one produced by Adem

I need to revisit that off the back of this one I think

I would like to subscribe to the Philip Selway fan club. Better than Neil Peart.

Jonny showed him how to run his drummer’s kit through a “singer-songwriter” pedal and he’s never looked back!

Is it me or does Selway sound a bit late period Pink Floyd Gilmore on this?

Yes, I definitely heard some DG in his singing on this.

This wouldn’t be out of place on the last Portishead album

Plays on the new Lanterns on the Lake album

He was in absolute last night with my pal (and sometimes DiS podcast / radio cohost) Danielle Perry

Seeing him at Rough Trade tonight

I knew he was a fan of theirs, so it’s lovely to hear about him supporting them.

I met Philip and absolutely gushed indecipherable words at him. He was so friendly.

Is it just me or does Picking Up Pieces from the new one start off sounding a little bit like Sex on Fire? :grimacing:

not everyone should bother writing songs, and certainly not the more ordinary members of Radiohead
