Love Klassen

Like how he can go playfully dark or absurd.

Love that! Where’s it from?

The Wolf, The Duck and the Mouse is great. Really appealed to my sense of humor.

Was a big fan of Oliver Jeffers’ books when reading to my two.

Lost & Found was a big favourite.

I was really pleasantly surprised how receptive R has been to the Shaun Tan books I have considering they aren’t ostensibly toddler stories. It is realy cool that he loves The Red Tree because it is good to understand negative feelings in a way most books only skirt over and miss the important bits, and with The Arrival him pointing out things was a great starting point to teach him about migration.

I think my favourite Jeffers is This Moose Belongs to Me because the scenery in the background is brilliant and the story still makes me laugh.

I like how there are lots of little cross references between his books too.

Yes! That is my favourite, straight into the belly! That is one of his ones with Mac Barnett, I think?

I’m not sure which of his books it’s from tbh. Ordered it from this gallery:

Was trying to find this before Christmas, had no luck, it’s good then?

I have a two year-old daughter so picture books are p much my entire life. Spent the last two years buying her all my old favourites, The Tiger Who Came To Tea is a stone cold classic, you can read a lot into that book if you’re that way inclined.

Favourite one is I Am A Bunny. I love lots of Richard Scarry’s stuff like What Do People Do All Day, but I Am A Bunny is just lovely, every page is perfect

In a similar vein this is good too

No reason not to introduce anything at a young age, and tbh with LGBT+ stuff the earlier the better so it isn’t seen as an other, but just part of life.

Couldn’t agree more.
