I confess I posted this on 62 Best Albums of 2026 So Far - I need to assure you these are not my genuine real thoughts 
- I was just doing it to test the quality control standards of the comments moderators. Particularly as I wanted to see if standards have slipped since the Conde Nast takeover, and I don’t always think that, as many recent reviews I’ve found excellent… but OK, if they decided to publish this, some standards have slipped.

this made me look up when fish and chips actually cost 10p - apparently as recently as the 70s. paid £19 at the pub on sunday…
Jesus. I knew 10p went a lot further in the 70s but not that far. I’m sure at one point even in my adult lifetime (born in ‘85) I could get takeaway fish and chips, definitely takeaway pie and chips for within a fiver!

Reading an account the other day of someone visiting Iron Curtain-era Hungary who went to a state-run restaurant and the “fish soup” was just a literal whole fish, in a bowl of water. Wonder which album Pitchfork will use that as a metaphor for their next 2.3/10
