Would really love to move to my own place by the end of next year, but whether or not that happens is completely out of my hands.

Hopefully I will be able to start taking R out on more than just the few predictable/manageable local journeys we do now. Would be good to take him to the Natural History Museum and then there is the pipe dream of us maybe having a little holiday but that is probably more than I can handle.

If I haven’t missed out on getting a place, I am going to sign up for a more serious silversmithing class, though the bus journeys still scare me.

Going to Oxford to see Youthmovies in March and hopefully will see Ought whenever it is they are touring.

Would be cool to meet some DiSers, also maybe socialise with people from my book club outside of the book club.

Will do  I think it is the 9th of March, if that is a Thursday.

Mainly I plan to beat @Jamos and @japes at every edition of AQOS in 2018.

I’ve set my sights high this year.

Basically glitter is tiny bits of plastic, and glittery items of makeup get washed away constantly which is so bad for the environment - it’s basically the next microbead scandal I think. So I want to raise awareness of it and contact my favourite glittery item manufacturers and encourage them to switch to biodegradable alternatives~

Is there a viable alternative then? I will definitely rethink my glitter usage.

I believe there are biodegradable alternatives, yeah  really hope the world can be sustainably sparkly~!!!

Has anyone got any advice for things to do to meet people, socialise a bit more etc? I’ve done evening classes before partly in the hope of making some new friends but nothing came of it in that regard. I’m a bit restricted with what exercise i can manage so exercise classes, cycling etc are probably out.

Get a dog.

I’m more of a cat person and not sure i could cope with a dog on my own. Cats are no good for socialising  thanks for the suggestion though

Need to sort this out next year too. Pretty much all of my friends moved away around the time we had kids a couple of years ago, and never really managed to sort out my social life after that. Think I went out with friends about 3 times last year :frowning: Quite into running so might join a running club, idk.

Take up a penoid card game.

Work - Be in a position by the end of the year where I’d feel confident in applying for a promotion.

Holidays - Have a night planned in Suffolk in four weeks time, and a stag do (urgh!) in York at the beginning of February. Really want to get away overseas for three or four nights somewhere. Haven’t actually had a night away from home that wasn’t work related in more than three years.

Exercise - Really need to get fitter. I’m going to look to begin the NHS Couch to 5k programme next week and if that begins well and my ankles hold up okay, look to do a few 5k / 10k races this year.

Other - Continue to read books, continue to focus on producing the fanzine for HFC and try entering a few writing competitions for shits and giggles. Go to the cinema at least once a month and spend a lot less time in the pub on my own.

Last year I joined a group called GirlCrew (awful awful name) which has been great for meeting people. It’s mostly organised through Facebook groups so isn’t ideal if you’re notonfacebookm9, and it’s just for women. Dunno where you’re based but there’s groups for most UK cities I think. My group’s done stuff like country walks, after-work drinks, book club and mid-week meals out this year. I haven’t personally made any best buds yet but I know loads more people in my area now so I’d recommend it.
