Kids are away. I’ve been invited to a party but I won’t know anyone there so probably swerve it.

Would be nice to have a few options - I’m not a huge fan of NYE but staying in is better if you’ve made a conscious choice to do it

One of my dogs is terrified of fireworks, so we can’t really go out, so we’ll probably just stay in and drink fancy beer in front of the TV. Sounds pretty ace tbh.

those adaptil diffusers are pretty great as well, we got one for pup when we first started leaving her in the house alone and had a bit of separation anxiety, worked like a charm. we dont use it any more coz she cant wait for us to leave (we leave her a bunch of treats every time as well, but still)

Normally go round someone’s house for dinner and drinks, go outside around midnight for the fireworks, then back in for more drinks etc. Literally never been to a bar or pub or anything on NYE.

(Edit: I know I’ll be back from my parents’ by then so will be in Oslo with friends, just not sure about any more detail than that at this point…)

Worst / best NYE subthread

Best - In Frankfurt at the bar my brother’s girlfriend runs, free bar all night, karaoke, small but great group of near-strangers. Just great.

Worst - Childhood ones aside (just boring rather than bad) - House party that I had in which I got in such a bad mood with someone who turned up uninvited I went to bed before 12.

I’ll either get really fucked up at a house party in Cork or I’ll get really fucked up at a house party in Co. Clare. I plan on greeting the New Year at dawn as high as a kite.

This scorched Earth approach to NYE stems from a few years back when I got some bad personal news on NYE. Ever since I’ve aimed to make it one of the most fun nights of the year in an attempt to repel those demons.
