Hello

FAO @zeal
what a great Pokemon year we’re all having!
Two booster boxes and two job lots of pre-owned cards.
The pre-owned won’t have anything rare at this price, but all of these are Traditional Chinese cards, which are considered as good as Japanese ones in terms of quality because they’re made in the same factories. The Holo on that Siglyph is beautiful.
Hello I missed this yesterday because I was just looking at the other pokémon thrwads but here I am!
My last couple of pretty acquistions
R will have some arriving in the post as my friend has sent them some old ones, not sure what level of vintage so that will be exciting!
Mentioned in one of the other threads my main collection is going to be a binder of the Pokopia pokédex (300 pokémon plus a few guests and some related item cards like fossils), but I can’t resist a nice art card and also I am collecting Magnemites, of which so far I have:
R is mostly pokémon they like and cute art. They actually latched on a lot to particular artists through playing pocket tcg so have some favourites already. They also really love cards where the art connects or the story connects from one card to another.
Some artists like Yuka Morii who makes the clay models they’ll never manage everything of (she’s been making cards forever!) But there was another one R loved who’s name.is Taiga Kayama who is quite new and had mostly very cheap cards so for their birthday coming up I got most of what they have out already so they can keep up with that easily enough (upto them though if they want to spend ~20 quid on that one trainer card I didn’t get though, I don’t know if they care that much)
I love pokémon cards
It looks so pretty even behind that sticker
Looking forward to seeing what you’ve got!
I know it won’t be anything rate but it still should be fun
Cards from friend, R is very happy with a few favourites in there (Eevees! Tiny Hat! Bonus Dreepys!)
Love the Yuka Mori art!
So tedious just to get packs at the moment. My wee guy loves getting cards, isn’t really fussed what they are, but I can’t get them that often. I have managed to get a preorder at PC for the next ETB, so that’s cool and we’ll have a bunch to open.
We like playing the game too, although quite a basic version for now. We got taught it at the European Championship and sent away with a couple of half sized practice decks, which was real fun. It’s really good for teaching him logic, as well as reading and maths. Hoping I can step him up to more complex versions so that I don’t get bored!
My youngest son collects them.
My big question about them… Why is it so fucking hard to find them in shops? Do they not like Money?
@sycamore sorry you activated my Sumiyoshi Kizuki fan button. Those vending machine set ines are wonderful, she also did so many amazing cards for the Team Rocket cards which a lot of people will probably recognise from their own 90s collections.
So hard to pick out favourites put a few:
All her first three gen work pretty much is gold, later stuff is less my style but there’s some nice stuff still there:
I just think they’re neat. I need to actually sort out my list of what I still need to find I know that one is still there and I think I’m roughly about halfway there to having full Magnemite friends
So I opened the packs. I’m 3 away from a complete base set of one and 4 away with the other, plus a couple of secret cards.
Out of interest, how do people in this thread keep track of what they’ve got and store their cards at home?
When I used to collect as a kid I had a binder folder with sleeves inside
I can’t afford a new hobby so need to avoid this thread
when I last collected cards my parents paid for them so it was fine
I’ve been buying them on Cardmarket
You can get em for pennies! Not to encourage you…
Don’t think I’ll rip packs very often, or at all. I did, but it feels much more satisfying to just order the cards I want. And cheaper.
Binder preferences vary, I haven’t actually started on mine because I’m waiting on a fun one before giving in to plain (or decorating a plain one) and also as haven’t given R theirs yet as it is a birthday present it would be really rich if me to be going around with my own BUT one of the ones I have got for them is a VaultX brand one and they do seem very good quality and functionality. The other small one I got them was this imported from Japan because it is actually fun and beautiful
As for keeping track, it depends how you want to collect really
Do you want to complete series? Becaise there are various websites you can create accounts on and log what you’ve got. I haven’t used any personally yet though
Or do you want to do more of a informal thing? Or a specific collection like pokémon/artist/pokédex? Because those might also be served on some websites but could alsoxbe a spreadsheet job or if you are more like me an analogue deal (when I get my binder I’m just slotting in each space what pokémon I need for my Pokopia dex to see what I’m missing)
I also am mostly a cardmarket user for where I get things like @Mert and I use the wantlists feature on there to track the opposite, of what I’m still after rather than what I already have, as that at the moment is trickier for me.to remember being the larger portion
Thanks, this is really useful!
Think I might hunt for the cards to complete base sets without the super rare stuff today so will have a look and see if any of the shops have sleeves and binders while I’m at it.
Happy to send out dupes/swaps to people when I’m back to the UK and I’ve organised everything ![]()

@mellow you speak Korean right? I have tonnes of Korean bulk. Again, not to encourage you…
I can read korean! (About as well as a 3rd grader)
