Recent reporting around the Dakota access pipeline makes me think that certainly civil disobedience has a space in this kind of discourse but my concern would be that the state, particularly in places like America has a huge monopoly on violence so how effectual could any strong action by civil groups actually be?

Only in self defence, but I think with this wave of militant right wing populism and such thatās probably going to need to happen sooner or later. Still not ethically credible though.
