The last two albums definitely make the idea of optimism sound subversive, like an alternate universe where punk is trying to assure us there is a future instead of all that “no future” stuff

Despite their rep as a depressing band, they have some really positive uplifting songs. I haven’t analyzed the lyrics too much, so if it turns out these are actually about suicide or something apologies.
