I’m partly just joshing you all and I’ve already submitted my top 5 anyway so don’t count this, but I’d partly genuinely unironically enjoy a HGATR on the first two. Though Hucknall’s very own HGATR: Cultures of the World on Twitter was just a little bit yikes.
New Order The Fall Mogwai Super Furry Animals Flaming Lips
The fall would be really hard to rate, as I love them a lot more than I like them if you know what I mean.
But some other good suggestions above too.
Miles Davis The Fall Iggy and the Stooges Nina Simone Sonic Youth
not hugely familiar with NS so would interested more from a educational perspective
Ooh nine inch nails would be good
Scott Walker Kraftwerk The Replacements The Byrds Nina Simone
Wouldn’t mind some more 90s staples like Pearl Jam, Hole, Pavement too. Although I’m well aware Pearl Jam would struggle to score above 3…
Boards of Canada St Vincent My Bloody Valentine Was there a Sonic Youth one already? Slint
Mogwai Super furry’s Orbital Underworld Slayer. (This would be bad for my blood pressure)
A Scott Walker one would be awesome. Not sure I can think of a more widely-divergent discography than his - I’m sure there is, but boy-band to Bish Bosch is a pretty strange path…
Ooh ooh beach house
Also OPN
Two big ones that I don’t think have been mentioned here or in any thread: Jimmy Eat World and Wolf Parade
big ones?
Both seem to be pretty popular here, and I can imagine the Jimmy Eat World one generating some takes. Wolf Parade is 5 for 5 on albums now too, which is more than a lot of artists we’ve done.
When is the next one?
Thanks for all the hard work.
I already suggested mine, but…
SSSLLLAAAAAYYYYEEERRRRR!!! (cough).
Oi they both have a couple GREAT albums
re: Slayer can we y’know not
Feel like Nina Simone could do really well, no-one who knows enough about her to vote is going low are they?
No.
twenty mins of quickness followed by a legacy of bullshit
Nonsense.
How many people would get involved with a Nicolas Jaar / AAL one? I know he’s fairly massive in certain circles, but I don’t get the impression many of them overlap with this one.
