tried to get into this band so many times but have failed

A classic DiS one for today

Such a banger. Nice to see it going up in price very very slowly. I picked it up in a trade for a manics 7 at school iirc. Pretty sure i got a Sultans of Ping single out of it also.

Probably not going to put it on - i’ve got a bunch of 10" but it’s an annoying format overall. Wish i didn’t own as many.

Produced by Adam from Beastie Boys - not sure if he’d left the band by this release

A 2x7" set, you barely have time to sit down before it’s time to flip sides. I remember scoring this for $20NZD which was a steal

Good album this, I’d probably put it on now if the other thread didn’t have me listening to Trail Of Dead

Edit: looks like you have to imagine the sleeve I’m afraid

Sold my copy of this on discogs only the other week! Posting off 10" records is a pain in the arsenal.

Oh it really is! I’ve got 7 and 12" mailers but nothing for that murky middle ground! A well packed 12" one probably. It’s pretty much enough to put me off.

although you saying you sold this the other week is tempting me!

Yeah I went 12" package but it was a bit of a ball ache

Ain’t No Funki Tangerine, what a bloody great song that is. Campag Velocet - Ain't No Funki Tangerine - YouTube

Excellent blackened post metal

Anotehr ‘dis friendly’ 7 for today. Random really is working hard for me. Not sure i’ve listened to this in the 21st century to be honest!

One for the ambient/drone/moderncomposition thread crowd today

looking at the apparent value of all my vinyl I’m thinking I should probably up my contents insurance!

it raises an interesting point!

I was told to have them under general contents as each one counts individually? So even though the collection may be around £25k, it’s not an item worth £25k, its a load of items worth between 1p and £500? SO therefore they would (in theory i know insurance are scum) replace/refund each item and not say nah, you didn’t declare an item over x threshold.

Does that make sense!? Basically do folks have them insured separately or as a collection!?

I’m 40 now and if anything happened to my collection the heartbreak would probably destroy me…but having insurance woes on top would be end times.

It’s another reason i am trying to get everything on there tbf - insurance!

Had my cd collection stolen many years ago. Wasn’t insured obviously. They didn’t take the records which is at least partly why I largely stuck to vinyl after that.

Hard to imagine anyone would bother stealing records but I guess there’s the possibility of flood or other damage as well. Discogs for documenting stuff seems like a really good idea.

I just meant up the total covered, not as an individual items or one large value item.

It’s good to have them catalogued though, for insurance purposes if nothing else. I got burgled back in the 90s and had to try and remember all the couple of hundred CDs I had that had been nicked off the top of my head!

You’re right but my sister had a house fire last year and lost all her (and half my dad’s) LPs

Yikes. Hope everyone was safe.

Did the insurance cover the records ok?

Yes thanks, she wasn’t home at the time and her dogs that were weren’t injured or anything, just a bit traumatized. She had left some food or something on the cooker and one of her dogs jumped up to get it and managed to turn the hob on with their paw!

I don’t know the situation with the vinyl, she didn’t have a particularly large collection. She lives at the other end of the country to me and we don’t speak that often other than the odd whatsapp message.

Today’s random listen. Forgot I had this. Think it’s since had a re-pressing.
