sergent potato waffles and superintendent hash browns

Got these a few weeks ago as Bo’s were out of regular hash browns and they were really good.

Not better than potato ones but have added them into the freezer rotation for the occasional change

Yeah these are alright, but spinach ones were really disappointing

hash browns - any good recipes?

same for potato cakes, please.

potato waffles… you couldn’t replicate the Bird’s Eye ones without access to whatever waffle machines they have

It actually just makes a load of L shapes that are then stuck together by hand by the waffleologists.

@Gnometorious @acorn I keep them simple. Grate some potatoes, mandolin a white onion. Bundle them both together in a tea towel and drain out as much water as possible. Add an egg, salt and pepper and mix. Then heat up a decent amount of veg/sunflower oil in a pan. bung in a spoonful of the mix, press it out to flatten it, flip when it’s brown.

For potato cakes mix old mash, an egg, a bit of flour, a bit of cheese and I like a diced onion and some herbs. Dollop into hot oil and press it out , let it cook into shape and flip after a few minutes

I would like to see a video of the waffle machine

lovely stuff, thank you

same kind of ingredients as gnocchi, but much, much less faff, seems like

Bet they’re extruded into a waffle loaf, like that playdough accessory that nobody had

I can get behind that

the individual waffles are sliced at the end of the waffle accessory with a super-heated slicer and then they are dropped into hot oil

Nice but too expensive for me. If they’re on offer I’ll have them

They’re both fine. Can’t get excited over either.

But which is better?

If you have a potato ricer you can put your sliced pots in there and squeeze out the water.

A good thing about potato waffles is when you finish eating them you’re left with a delicious mini-pile of melted butter to lick up

Thanks! This is basically what I did for my potato rostis the other week

What potato waffles you talking bout hun?
