I was there and it was the most fun Primavera I’ve ever been to.

You’re talking :poop:

Can’t believe we’re having this argument again
It’s almost as boring and tedious as yet another heavily male dominated festival line up.

Don’t understand the need to be rude when I was respectful to everyone on here and simply have a different view. Sigh.

Sexism isn’t ‘a different view’ its an exhausting prejudice women have to deal with in every facet of our lives.

Your assumption that booking more women will mean overlooking male acts of superior quality / will be detrimental to the festival IS pure, good old fashioned sexism.

Perhaps if you consider living your entire life, dealing with sexisim every day, on all levels, then still having to deal with men chime in with their views on how they should deal with it, as soon as they ask for gender balance… I can only imagine exhausting it must be, and how rude that must seem. every day. every day.

So I’m sorry if you find my lil smiley poo emoji disrespectful, but I’m exhausted.

I just find it an odd (not even to mention offensive and discriminatory) position to hold. Even for those who think the line up suffered last year, wasn’t that due to the shift in direction rather than the fact that more women were playing? Had it been Sleater Kinney, Bjork, PJ Harvey, Patti Smith, MIA, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Siouxsie and the Banshees etc. instead of Cardi B, Carly Rae Jepsen and the like would you really have been complaining?

Perfectly happy for people to disagree - that’s a good thing.
But to say my position is offensive and sexist - there’s no basis for that.
And I don’t think, as it happens, that the lineup was worse for having 50/50 women this year. I can’t compete with a straw man argument.
Peace to all.

What straw man argument?

Reddit people who translated the interview also posted this.

“General info - Gabi mentioned that 5 bands that are classic from Primaveras will be reunited, so you can make your guesses on who they are, Primavera Indie bands. He also said this year he is gonna be extra indie which means basically that forget about 2019 and 2018 lineups cause it’s going to be indie again (with some pop urban etc for sure but less than past editions)”

Don’t really understand the ‘booking should be based on merit’ thing when it comes to something as subjective as music. There are more than enough women in music nowadays that they don’t have to go out of their way to book ‘bad’ acts that happen to have women in. Also there are loads of absolutely shite Male bands that get booked for festivals all the time.

I LOVE this place so much. My heart SOARS when I arrive at the festival - gorgeous place, gorgeous people who love music, gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous artists.

It feels like everyone is just delighted to be there - and tbh last year was nicer than ever because more women, more first timers, more diversity etc. It genuinely made it better imo, and I say that as a 33YO white boy from stoke who had initial misgivings over the line up.

Oh :upside_down_face:

Not sure if specifically his words or those of the people on Reddit who translated. I imagine the latter.

He also apparently said Tyler The Creator is a “classic” so I assume he will be there
