Pretty sure each year I’ve started the thread I’ve ended up having to sell my tickets. Had mad fomo this year, so not sure why I’m starting this thread, but here we are. Welcome to the Primavera Sound 2025 thread, please enjoy your stay.
Genuinely though that meant it had moved to July for a second. We’re looking at places to stay right this second just depends if we can get a set of parents to look after the ankle biters.
early bird - BOUGHT
flights - BOOKED
cheap pay on arrival hotel with free cancellation - RESERVED
every year i go along thinking “ahh, maybe this will be my last one for a while, it’s probably about time to do a different holiday next year”, and then i have an incredibly sick time and can’t help myself once they stick the cheap early bird tickets on sale
I stayed at this place this year and have tentatively booked it again for 2025:
The inside of the hotel was great - room and bathroom were really nice and a very decent breakfast was included. The only mark against it is that the immediate vicinity has a slightly sketchy vibe when returning from the festival in the early hours (but I still managed to avoid getting robbed or pickpocketed).
Annoyingly every hotel seems to have properly whacked their prices up for next year. Even this place on the lower end of the hotel price range has gone up from about £110 a night to ~£150 a night for a twin room (and I think it might even be slightly higher now cos I reserved it a few weeks back for 2025).
Not sure I’ll make it, I think my mates are likely to give it a miss.
At the same time if a bunch of DiSers are going then I’d consider it. Had a brilliant time this year but my one regret is not seeing people from the board!
Yeah they seem to have gotten it down to a science now. Think it was worse in 2022 because of the number of people, but there haven’t been anywhere near the same numbers the past couple of years and it works fine. They also introduced two other side to side stages by the entrance last year, which work fine, but it’s a shame to lose sitting on the grassy hill watching bands, as that no longer faces any stage.
Almost all the stages point away from the city now, apart from the Rayban and the nonce stage, to try and reduce the noise levels.
Just grabbed a room with no prepayment and free cancellation from booking.com. Hot tip, there are a lot more ‘mobile only’ options if you use the phone app.
Thought some of you might find this piece I commissioned for the DiS newsletter interesting. Be curious which local acts you’ve discovered at the festival of the years. I remember being surprised when I went (admittedly only once back in 2013) how few Spanish acts there were on the bill compared to going to Nordic festivals where there’s lots of big effort made to showcase local talent (although I may be more aware of it as I’ve often been to those festivals in Iceland, Norway, etc as a guest of music export orgs)
Primavera Porto was excellent the year I went. Totally manageable in size and still with enough of the lineup transposed. I’d struggle to justify Barca when I know Porto is there.
