What’s the link between the lizard people thing and antisemitism?

Yeah I’m also unaware of this, and while I know of the David Icke lizard thing I thought it had sort of memed off on its own into a different thing. Glad to be educated otherwise though!

David Icke has a conspiracy about shapeshifting Lizard elite who control the world, many think it is just code for Jewish people, he maintains he really means Lizards, but given his following and some uncomfortable overlaps he probably isnt

Ah, yeah that’s not cool, fuck you David Icke

Yeah I only picked this up recently and it’s weird I didn’t think about before

Can we try to avoid repeated pile ons of people, when they’ve already been called out, explained themselves and apologised? It’s not healthy to have people repeatedly have a go at you like that.

most pathetic thing I’ve ever seen.

cool cheers - was aware of the icke thing and lizards and everything. Its weird really as i just enjoyed thinking they were all lizards but didn’t really pick up on that which is bad of me.

Wonder if it’s the same one I’m thinking of

i’ve know people into conspiracy stuff, it is a weird one, I think some people really do believe this stuff at face value, a certain new agey ‘spiritual’ type of person, then some people absolutely use it as code, not sure of the origins (as think this stuff pre-dates icke), whether it was always a anti-sematic thing or whether it has become one because of the overlaps between the tropes, either way probably is best to steer clear

I’d call him a giant baby, but that would be really unfair on babies

Blood pressure went through the roof watching that.

Folk have covered it already, but yeah, the David Icke world leaders are lizards thing is broadly considered to be thinly veiled antisemitism (though he denies it).

not on board with the anti pile-on school of thought, just stifles discussions that need to be had, especially as in the past these boards have had a problem challenging people, now its like there can be a couple of designated responses and then everyone else has to leave it. it is one thing if someone has taken something on board and continues to get a hammering, but when they haven’t really it is still an open discussion imo

I think you need to appreciate what it’s like being on the receiving end of all that though.

It’s also worth considering that some people are not the most articulate with their thoughts/posts and can end up saying things that don’t quite get interpreted how they’d intended. I think that’s happened here to a small extent.

Morgan’s in a deeply weird place. He’s still a good journalist on the odd occasion he puts his mind to it, but he seems more interested in playing the character of Piers Morgan right-wing socialite for clicks instead and can’t divorce the two selves at all.

(to be clear, I’m not suggesting that he’s occasionally still good at his job redeems him. Much like Clarkson et all, the fact that he’s happy to play a right wing dick for likes marks him out as worse than those who truly believe this stuff imo).
