You did say something, it was taken on board, then a longer response came, which was completely dismissed by the original user, and not even touched on by anyone else, before calls of pile on came in.

I don’t agree with calling people names, but there were many other important points raised. having those points dismissed as a pile on has upset some of those users.

I was going to reference the Mail earlier, funnily enough. I don’t think it’s really at the same level - with GMB at least Piers is being challenged and sort of comes across as a bit of a clown (I think, I don’t watch it regularly). The Mail is unchallenged naked bigotry.
Both harmful but not totally comparable, I can see someone being ok with the former but balking at the latter.
