I was working on the phones at the BBC that summer, and was working during the funeral

That was a pretty crazy window into the hysteria - people were seriously calling up and asking for their condolences/ best wishes to be read out on the air like it was a radio phone in.

I also had people calling up and holding me personally responsible for her death (because I worked for the BBC and therefore was part of the media that hounded the people’s princess to her death)

I remember Viz printed loads of letters they’d received because up until then they’d been running a strip with Di as Frankenstein’s monster.

One simply read “Blood on YOUR hands” and it became a sort of household catchphrase.

Oops!

Hold your horses there sunshine - Arsenal went on to lift the Premier League trophy that season, beating Manchester United by 1 point and with a vastly inferior goal difference. That 0-0 was the pivotal point of the season it could be argued.

Think it is inarguable though that Arsenal went on to win that season because they were the team who dealt with the loss of the old Queen of Hearts best. Fergie said that himself in his autobiography.

The lesson is, always wear your seatbelt. And avoid getting in the car with drunk drivers.

25 you utter tube!

Was a bit weird in our house when she died. My Mam identified with her massively because they had the exact same birthday and as a result Mam had followed her life with interest. I remember telling my Mam the news while she was in bed that morning and she burst into tears. (We had obviously gotten up to watch cartoons that Sunday morning and only realised after a while that something was up. Mam was probably hungover after going out for a few drinks the night before.)

I do remember watching the news coverage of the mourning in the UK and being a bit baffled. I knew she was important but not why. Looking back on it now it seems incredibly over the top. I do know that I fucking hated ‘Candle In The Wind’ because it was always on the telly and radio and I loved chart radio at the time.

They had a ‘documentary’ series about the pr0n industry too. Essential viewing

Did you own a White Fiat…?

Weirdly, one of the few things I can remember is watching the news coverage on my parents’ bed at like 7am and them looping this clip of Charles, Di and the kids going down Loggers’ Leap. Me and my sister spent the next hour moaning at my Dad as he’d told us he’d take us to Thorpe Park recently and had forgotten. We got sent downstairs, though I’m pretty sure we got that Thorpe Park trip a few weeks later.

Cheers, Di.

:grinning: didn’t even watch this before I posted it. I just love the way they say Lady Di in Amelie, but they don’t say it here and the subtitles are in Spanish I think. Anyway, I was in a car @meowington I was in a car

Sex & Shopping! I also think there was a show where they discussed new jazz film releases called Blue Review.
