Congrats to Froome, first Brit to win the giro blah blah. The fact that the rules allow him to start (not his fault, but his case should have been wrapped up long before the start) has soured this for me, and it was really nice to see him, and Sky being a non event in a GT until yesterday. Yesterday’s performance is absolutely unbelievable, regardless of circumstances of the race. 80km attacks across multiple mountain passes are bullshit.
That Giro will stick in my mind for dodgy performances across the board, up there with Nibali’s 2016 Giro, Horner’s 2013 Vuelta, Cobo’s 2011 Vuelta and back into the bad old days. Yates dodgy, Froome always dodgy. And like @powerfulmellow posted up there, I would not be surprised if we are sitting here in 10yrs time saying that was obvious.
I’m not taking away from any fans of his, enjoy his victory, these are all my opinions of having watched cycling for the best part of 15yrs.
Sorry for the rant. Let’s hope he Quintana’s the Tour
and my fantasy team was shite
