“One of the things which sets Chris apart is his mental strength and resilience - and we will support him totally in his recovery, help him to recalibrate and assist him in pursuing his future goals and ambitions.”

yeah right, you’ll ditch him faster than a bad smell if he’s not gonna be an elite gc rider after this, and he himself will not wanna ‘recalibrate’ (domestique) for anybody.

that’s a mixed metaphor isn’t it? what do you quickly ditch…idk

Wva wins the itt!

it’s sounding pretty bad if there’s still no update beyond that

Shit

Probably, but (hopefully?) it’s also the way Brailsford manages things, he’s not gonna release any info he doesn’t have to.

I guess to shield the other team riders as much as anything, they can just ‘idk’ any journo questions and stop it being too much of a distraction.

His wife tweeted this from his Twitter account yesterday evening (sorry no idea how to link to the actual tweet)

Chris is in surgery at the moment to repair the multiple fractures, please keep him in your thoughts. I hope to be able to share a message from him tomorrow morning - MF

the surgery lasted 8 hours according to l’equipe:

From Google Translate:

“…an operation that was all the more serious as the fractures of the femur and elbow were open”

Fucking hell! An open femur fracture is not funny. The femoral artery can rupture and kill you very quickly (or so I was told by the telly on one of those hospital programmes).

Also a fractured hip was discovered at a larger hospital. Lucky, lucky boy, especially considering the history of riders hitting walls in descents. Wish him a speedy recovery, and fingers crossed he’ll be back on the bike although I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s not on the bike again

At 34 youd imagine he’ll call it a day and fair enough. Thoughts on him as a rider and team sky as a team it’s a hell of a palmares

Least surprising news ever.

they’ve pissed off dr gendt, lol

speaking of MVDP, did you see that sunweb have bought correndon?

What a fucking surprise.

Just thinking about the crash Beloki had in front of Armstrong in the 2003 tour. Broke his pelvis, effectively ending his career.
