And this. “Richie Porte is going to be challenging in the TdF. He won the stage on Old Willunga Hill/Corkscrew Road for the 15th time at the Tour Down Unda”. Fuck off.

It’s Australia, so can prob file under ‘desert races’ anyway.

Really hoping we’ve seen the end of this now. Especially after this summer. He finished the race and was nowhere against a weakened field.

Those season opening races are a crock of shit anyway. Gimme Etiole de Besseges and Omloop any day

The season starts for real with Omloop, but I did watch the Australian races this year. Hate Oman / Dubai / whatever it’s called now - sports-washing shite.

This year I have watched a lot though. Some of it is just fast forwarding to the last 20km, but in other cases I watch the entire Eurosport coverage on catch-up.

  • Most of Tour Down Under (weird production values)
  • Great Ocean Race
  • Most of Vuelta a San Juan
  • Vuelta a Andalucia
  • Bits of Algarve
  • All the classics / semis (lol)
  • Paris-Nice
  • Bits of Tirreno-Adriatico
  • Yorkshire
  • Catalunya
  • Basque
  • A few bits of Turkey
  • Romandie
  • Tro Bro
  • Eschborn-Frankfurt
  • Giro
  • Bits of California but can never get into it because of the clash with the Giro
  • Bits of Norway
  • Route d’Occitanie
  • Dauphiné
  • Suisse
  • TdF
  • San Sebastian
  • Bits of BinckBank
  • Bits of Utah
  • Vuelta

and I plan to watch

  • Britain
  • World Champs (in person from Friday to Monday :grinning:)
  • Lombardy

Yeah, on reflection this is a bit mental. I need to cut it down.

Dovetails perfectly for me. Watch the Giro live ideally, or highlights/last hour or so in the early evening.

Then stay up late watching the peleton grind up really wide smooth mountain roads in stunning sunny californian scenery.

Prob my non-classics relatedfavourite week in the cycling calendar

Yeah it is good-looking isn’t it? And I understand lots of pros love it because of the atmosphere.
