On a mildly unrelated note I’d never been aware of how to use paint it black in a sentence and yet you just did it perfectly. What a great phrase.

Swedish helps here

The verb ā€˜att svartmĆ„la’ means - to denigrate

svart - black
att mƄla - to paint

Thus denigrating is literally ’blackpainting’

Fucking great pub

My dad used to live opposite and minded the bar (lol) a few times when the landlady went on holiday. There used to be snaps of him up on the wall in various states of revelry

Big fan of psychedelics, was he?

Sounds like those ā€œhot couch guysā€ that everybody was on about the other month

Sadly not. I reckon he would probably benefit from some

The mushrooms I had the other night were better than mdma

If you can rework all your anecdotes into a movie script you may be onto a chunk of cash.

Barry Big Bananas has done me a little

Same. Don’t really have time for the recovery period with kids at home. I don’t really drink, even at the moment. Not enough to get drunk anyway.

And yeah, fuck cocaine, just turns me into an obnoxious monologue. Think I once talked at someone about The Passenger by Iggy Pop for 45 straight minutes.

Entirely legal - mostly based on what the s*n thinks. I remember they made weed class c for a while and the press ran endless stories about it causing schizophrenia until it was moved back up to b.

I can tell you (because I’ve read the papers) that there was no spike in diagnoses of schizophrenia whilst it was class C. Not to say that there is no link - if you are susceptible to such things then it is the worst possible idea - but the change in the law had zero evidence base in either direction.

To follow up, Professor David Nutt did a big study comparing harm for 20 different drugs - got fired as the Government’s chief adviser on drug policy for telling the truth about it:

Hated Alan Johnson ever since this

It chimed very well my general frustration with the way an alarming majority of people respond to facts and evidence.

That’s it isn’t it? It’s not the childcare whilst you’re out that’s the problem, it’s the following day(s) that are tricky.

I’d be delighted with myself if I never took coke again, but I know how weak willed I am.

I’ve been good for the last 18 months and don’t miss it in the slightest - the danger-zone is if I’m already drunk and someone offers. Always seems like a much better idea then. (un)Luckily my hangovers are so bad these days that I can’t really drink neither.
