Really cba getting involved here, I’ve said my piece upthread about pubs and that but in summary: pubs are great, not everyone who uses them is some washed up old drunk or a fighty lad, rural communities like mine rely on them as a social and community thing, keep them all open forever #funkhouserout

Just accidentally voted for the wrong answer in my own poll. What a bellendio.

Other great pubs:

The Saint James. Once a month they hold Rum Club! They’ve got 60 or 70 rums behind the bar and a representative from a rum distillery comes to talk about rum and give out free samples!
The Park Crescent. The beer’s only average, but it’s less than a minute’s walk from my house.
The Heart & Hand. It still has a vinyl 7" jukebox. And a pub cat!
The Richmond. Has regular live music and has just reopened as a pub a year or two back after being a hostel for a while. I’ve just seen on fb that John Lee Hooker played there in the 1960s!
The Fortune of War. It’s literally on the beach. You can get a pint and sit and watch the sea
The Setting Sun. It’s up a big fucking hill, but the views from the beer garden are phenomenal (especially when the sun’s setting)
Holler Tap Room. Great new brewery behind the bar so the beer is as fresh as it could possibly come, and the food is Fatto a Mano pizza (which any Brightonian will tell you is the best Pizza)
The Foragers. Not a great pub in many respects, but my mates used to DJ there and occasionally I’d get behind the decks too. Sometimes it’s not where you’re at, it’s who you’re with.

There’s too many good pubs near me. I want to go to the pub now. Can I go to the pub now?

Lord Crewe Arms is quite good if you want a fix of stupid posh pub that’s a bit spectacular.

I’ll think of some other pubs.

The Fulflood Arms

Properly love this place. Tucked away in a little residential corner of Winchester. Tied House with Greene King, but will have a revolving cast of cask beers. Do days out to sporting events, organise cycling trips to France and Cornwall, have a cricket team in a local league, host refreshments after the local hockey team have played home matches, MEAT RAFFLE, show footie and rugby but keep it quite family friendly, quiz night, brew their own beer, do a loyalty scheme for drinks purchased before 7pm (6 drinks and your 7th is free), lovely suntrap. @plasticniki and Mike have been a couple of times and like it. Great pub

As said up there somewhere I’m not big on trad pubs, but I quite like the Golden Rule. Used to live opposite but don’t anymore (although we’re not far).

Has a great pub quiz and often has random stuff on from good breweries (Tiny Rebel, Cromarty, Barney’s, Fallen, Six Degrees). Often funny dogs in there. Gets proper roasting in the summer though.

If you’re ever up Edinburgh way and want to go to a trad but non-touristy pub I’d highly recommend it.

London.

Just remembered I’ve not been to the fat cat in ages. Such a top pub.

Ooh, and a special mention for the Quadrant with it’s Grade II listed interior, which looks incredible.

Ha used to go here sometimes as it was near my pal’s place, it’s fairly dingy like

My favourite pub is and always will be Phil. Carroll’s in Clonmel. Excellent Guinness, experienced staff, great music selection and a fine place to read a book.

Eh, I think it’s pretty well looked after, but maybe because I’m comparing it the Polwarth Tavern up the road, which looks aaaaawful.

Feels like there’s one on every street corner in Barcelona. No idea how they make money but I love them.

Was thinking of popping that in the thread myself, but didn’t want to out-Sheffield you. Pint of Kelham Best for £2 when you can get a spot outside is what dreams are made of.

That appears to be perfect.

Pale rider for £2.60 imo

Possibly controversial argument – while bars in Europe are great and spilling out onto the streets and squares in the sun is fantastic, very few can hold a candle to really good UK pubs.

In Leeds city centre, always liked The Queen Victoria, behind the Town Hall.
